Rajya Sabha MP and former UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma mourned the demise of senior BJP leader Vindhyavasini Kumar. Kumar was a former Leader of the BJP Legislative Council and a former State General Secretary.

Kumar began his social and political career as a full-time worker and organisation minister in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
From his early days in student politics, he earned recognition as a straightforward and simple worker. His dedication and way of life went on to inspire younger generations.
Vindhyavasini Kumar’s political journey later moved from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh to the BJP, reflecting a lifelong association with nationalist politics and organisational building. His passing is being described by colleagues and associates as a personal and emotional loss.
Those who worked closely with him recall learning invaluable lessons about party organisation, discipline, and grassroots engagement under his guidance.
Vindhyavasini Kumar was widely respected as an astute organisational strategist. His dedication to the party was considered exemplary.
In one of his most notable achievements, he won a Legislative Council graduate constituency election. He campaigned by travelling across the region on a scooter. The victory, however, reflected his strong grassroots connection and simplicity in politics.
A Life of Simplicity and Accessibility
Despite his senior stature within the party, he was known for living modestly and remaining accessible. He was regarded by many as an elder brother figure within political and social circles.
His close personal ties extended beyond politics. He shared a deep bond with the late Kedarnath Sharma (popularly known as Padhaji Ji), frequently visiting the family home and maintaining longstanding personal relationships that transcended formal political associations.
In recent weeks, Kumar had been unwell and was placed on ventilator support before recovering and returning home. Though some had expressed concern that his memory was no longer as sharp as before, a recent meeting revealed otherwise.
When reminded about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he reportedly began recalling events and conversations with remarkable clarity, surprising those present.
Despite earlier difficulty in speaking, Vindhyavasini Kumar soon engaged in detailed discussions about past political experiences, including his long journey from the Vidyarthi Parishad to the Jana Sangh and eventually the BJP. He was known to share a special warmth with several senior leaders, including Kalraj Mishra, the late Kalyan Singh, and Rajnath Singh.
His association with PM Narendra Modi was also described as particularly affectionate and rooted in shared organisational experiences.
Throughout his life, Kumar upheld a philosophy of selflessness, believing that whatever he had belonged to the organisation. His unwavering loyalty to the party and his tireless dedication to its growth defined his public life.
With his passing, only memories remain, memories of a man who lived for the organisation, mentored generations, and embodied simplicity, commitment, and ideological conviction.
