On Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi held wide-ranging talks with his Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenković, focusing on speeding up the India-EU FTA & deepening bilateral ties.
The two heads of state met concurrently of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.
“The two leaders exchanged views on ways to further strengthen India-Croatia relations and advance cooperation in new areas of mutual interest, including AI, information and communication technologies, innovation and clean energy, among others.
Both leaders agreed to work for the early implementation of the India-EU FTA,” the Ministry of External Affairs stated.
PM Modi also lauded the ‘deep interest’ among the Croatian people in Indology as well as India’s ancient Yoga and Ayurveda traditions.
With Finnish PM Orpo
Earlier in the day, the PM Modi met Finnish PM Petteri Orpo, thanking Orpo for his ‘personal support’ to the India-EU FTA describing the pact as a transformative step in Indo-Euro ties, reviewing the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation.
The leaders discussed scaling up collaboration in sustainability, digitalisation, AI research and ethical innovation.
“Held extensive discussions with the Prime Minister of Finland, Mr Petteri Orpo. Thanked him for his personal support to the India-EU FTA, which ushers in a golden era in India-Europe relations. India and Finland aim to double trade, thus giving a strong boost to economic linkages,” PM Modi posted on X.

The bilateral discussion also encompassed cooperation in frontier technologies such as 6G, sustainable energy solutions, biofuels, and the circular economy.
India-EU FTA negotiations concluded on January 26, paves the way for one of the world’s most expansive trading zones. Covering two billion people, the deal secures gradual tariff rollbacks for the auto and food-and-beverage industries, alongside enhanced bilateral mobility for services.
It further anchors a shared commitment to frontier digital technologies and sustainable industrial collaboration
Dubbed the ‘Mother of All Deals’, the pact is expected to significantly expand market access while safeguarding India’s sensitive sectors such as dairy and agriculture through calibrated tariff adjustments.
