Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić during the ongoing India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.
The summit, convened from February 16 to 20 under the government-backed IndiaAI Mission, seeks to strengthen global collaboration in artificial intelligence.
The leaders met on the margins of the summit and reviewed the full spectrum of India-Serbia relations.
They focused on expanding cooperation in defence manufacturing, industrial production, Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), fertilisers and large-scale infrastructure development.
Both sides reaffirmed their intention to deepen strategic and economic engagement.
India and Serbia share longstanding diplomatic ties. In recent years, Indian investments in Serbia have increased steadily, particularly in manufacturing and technology-linked sectors.
Bilateral trade reached approximately $1.2 billion in 2025, reflecting consistent commercial growth.
Serbia remains a significant partner for India in the Balkan region.
The meeting took place in a formal ceremonial setting. Official photographs captured the two leaders exchanging a handshake before holding detailed discussions.
National flags of both countries formed the backdrop, reinforcing the spirit of diplomatic goodwill and mutual respect.
Prime Minister Modi has actively used the summit platform to articulate India’s technological vision.
In several recent posts in Hindi, he linked artificial intelligence with civilisational wisdom.
He drew upon ancient philosophical references to underscore that technological advancement must serve societal welfare.
This narrative aligns with India’s broader approach of harmonising tradition with innovation.
The India AI Impact Summit represents a key diplomatic and technological initiative.
It aims to position India as a central actor in shaping global AI governance.
Despite reports of logistical constraints on its opening day, the summit continues to attract high-level participation and bilateral engagements.
The Modi-Vučić dialogue underlined India’s expanding diplomatic outreach across Europe.
It also reflected a shared resolve to leverage emerging technologies and industrial cooperation to strengthen bilateral ties in an evolving global landscape.
