BJP MLA from Lucknow, Rajeshwar Singh, on Tuesday shared photographs of his meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at Raj Bhavan during the 86th All India Presiding Officers’ Conference (AIPOC).
Singh presented Birla with a framed statue of Lord Krishna, describing the gesture as a mark of respect and admiration.
In his social media post, Singh praised Birla’s tenure as Lok Sabha Speaker and highlighted what he called a transformative phase in India’s parliamentary functioning. He credited Birla with setting new benchmarks in legislative productivity, disciplined time management, and institutional efficiency.

Rajeshwar Singh noted that Parliament under Birla’s leadership recorded historic levels of legislative output.
He said structured debates, improved scheduling, and strict adherence to timelines strengthened the credibility of parliamentary proceedings.
According to Singh, these reforms restored public confidence in democratic institutions.
The MLA also underscored the Speaker’s push for digital innovation. He pointed to the rollout of AI-enabled multilingual translation systems that allow members to participate in debates in their preferred languages.
Singh said this step significantly improved inclusivity and accessibility for elected representatives from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
He further highlighted the adoption of paperless e-Parliament systems. Singh said digital documentation reduced delays, enhanced transparency, and modernised legislative workflows.
He described these changes as essential for aligning India’s Parliament with global best practices.
The 86th AIPOC is being held in Lucknow from January 19 to January 21, 2026.
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel inaugurated the conference, which has drawn presiding officers from legislative assemblies and councils across the country.
The conference focuses on strengthening legislative procedures and improving the effectiveness of parliamentary institutions.
During his address, Speaker Om Birla raised concerns over the declining duration of Assembly sessions in several states.
He urged presiding officers to ensure adequate sittings to allow meaningful debate, scrutiny, and accountability.
Delegates are discussing strategies to improve legislative discipline, encourage constructive deliberations, and leverage technology for better governance.
The forum aims to build consensus on reforms that reinforce democratic traditions.
Rajeshwar Singh said the conference reflects a collective resolve to safeguard parliamentary values while embracing innovation.
He added that Om Birla’s leadership continues to inspire lawmakers to balance tradition with reform in India’s evolving democracy.
