Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Sunday made a heartfelt appeal to the Tamil diaspora in the United States, urging them to encourage U.S. companies to invest in their home state. Speaking at a ‘Meet and Greet’ event at the Indian Consulate General in San Francisco, Stalin emphasized the importance of unity among Tamilians living abroad.
“You Tamilians must remain united,” Stalin stated. “Do not allow any differences to arise between yourselves. The concept of ‘Unity in Diversity’ has been the cornerstone of India’s development. I urge you all to continue to stay united and live together as children of a mother, without any differences.” He then called on the diaspora to actively promote Tamil Nadu as a prime destination for U.S. investments.
Stalin expressed his pride in the Tamil diaspora’s achievements in the US. He noted that their success is a matter of pride for India. He acknowledged that while some may have chosen to move to the U.S., others were compelled by circumstances. Regardless, he attributed their success to hard work, intelligence, talent, confidence, and persistence.

The Chief Minister is currently on a 17-day trip to the U.S., aimed at attracting investments to Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that the key traits that have helped the Tamil diaspora succeed—quality education, excellence in skills, self-confidence, and persistence—should continue to guide them in the future. He also encouraged the diaspora to support and uplift others within their community.
During his visit to San Francisco, Stalin has met with several corporate leaders and visited the headquarters of major tech companies like Google, Apple, and Microsoft.
These visits have resulted in the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the tech giants. The aim is to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s focus on embracing cutting-edge technologies and fostering an ecosystem conducive to research and development as well as high-tech manufacturing.
Since taking office in May 2021, Stalin has made it a priority to attract global investments to Tamil Nadu. His international outreach has included visits to the UAE, Singapore, Japan, and Spain. He had a goal of securing investment commitments for the state.
