Earlier in the day, as many as 100 schools in the national capital received bomb threats, prompting immediate searches and heightened security measures in the affected areas.
The threats were received via email by the respective school administrations earlier today.
As per reports, investigative agencies suspect that the email originated from a server situated in Russia. It is believed that a single IP address was utilized to dispatch the email to all schools.
The email raised alarms and necessitated swift action from law enforcement agencies.
The affected schools, which include both public and private institutions, were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Students, teachers, and staff were safely evacuated out of the buildings.
Police and bomb disposal squads cordoned off the areas for thorough searches. Sniffer dogs and bomb detection equipment were employed to conduct a thorough scan of the premises.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, arrived at DAV School located in Model Town following an email received earlier today indicating a bomb threat.
Delhi LG VK Saxena stated that the Delhi Police responded swiftly to the situation. He highlighted that the affected areas have been cordoned off, and extensive search operations are underway, involving dog squads and bomb disposal units. Emphasizing the preparedness of the Delhi Police, Saxena assured the residents of Delhi that every effort is being made to prevent any potential harm. He further added that the culprits will not be spared.
In response to bomb threats, Special CP Ravinder Yadav confirmed ongoing checks with specialized units deployed. He added that regardless of the authenticity of the threats, thorough investigation is underway to ensure safety.
In addition to the growing concern, reports surfaced that airports and hospitals were targeted by similar threats in recent days. Furthermore, warnings were issued to several hospitals on Monday, compounding the sense of unease. These consecutive developments have placed the national capital on high alert. It has prompted authorities to ramp up efforts to safeguard the safety and security of all its residents.
