Lucknow: Mayawati, the BSP president, praised the Supreme Court’s decision to reject the electoral bond system on Monday, saying that continued efforts were required to defend the Constitution and democracy.
In a series of postings on X, the BSP president also stated that her party avoided exploiting the money power of major capitalists and wealthy individuals and, when in power, fought for the welfare of the poor and backward classes.
Her opponents, on the other hand, allegedly worked primarily for their gain.
The latest Supreme Court decision regarding the process of diverting the country’s politics and ‘janmat’ away from public interest and public opinion through money power arising from secret electoral bonds is significant, but ongoing efforts are required to protect the Constitution and democracy, she stated.
She stated that her party’s leadership in Uttar Pradesh has undertaken historic efforts in the public interest and welfare, as well as the eradication of poverty and backwardness. She further stated that only by forming a Bahujan-friendly administration in the country will the people be able to be free of life-threatening inflation, mounting poverty, unemployment, and backwardness.

Mayawati’s comments came on the same day that a five-judge Constitutional Court ordered the SBI to provide full disclosure of all information in its possession about electoral bonds. In a stunning decision, a five-judge constitution court declared the system unlawful.
