On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj saw an overwhelming number of devotees making their way for the final bath of Maha Kumbh 2025.
As the day progressed, the sacred confluence gradually transformed into a vibrant gathering of spiritual seekers, each arriving with a sense of reverence and devotion.
Furthermore, the air was filled with chants, prayers, and the rhythmic sound of cymbals, as the gathering grew in numbers and spiritual energy.
The sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati attracted pilgrims from all corners of the country, including from Nepal and West Bengal, for this once-in-144-years sacred event.
A Sacred Journey Begins At Midnight
The crowds started to gather as early as midnight, eager to partake in the holy bath at Brahma Muhurta, the most auspicious time for the ritual.
While some waited patiently for the designated hour, many devotees plunged into the sacred waters before then, seeking divine blessings for themselves and their loved ones.
Devotees From West Bengal & Nepal
Among the attendees were four friends from Siliguri, West Bengal, who traveled together to experience the spiritual grandeur of the occasion.
Dressed in matching yellow dhotis, the friends expressed their joy and excitement for this rare pilgrimage. “We drove from West Bengal and walked the remaining distance to reach Sangam,” said Akash Pal, one of the four.
Their devotion was further exemplified by their carrying saffron-colored containers to collect Ganga Jal, a revered relic to take back home.
Additionally, devotees from Nepal also made the journey to Triveni Sangam. Among them were four teenagers from Janakpur, Nepal, who traveled with their uncle to participate in the holy dip.
Domi Sahni, the uncle, shared their connection to the sacredness of the event, mentioning their hometown’s significance to Mata Sita and their planned visit to Ayodhya after the sacred dip.
A Historic Spiritual Event That Draws Thousands
Devotees from diverse states like Karnataka, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh gathered at Prayagraj to participate in this grand spiritual gathering.
The event, touted as a once-in-a-lifetime occasion due to its rarity, played a key role in drawing thousands of people to the holy site.
The spiritual significance, combined with the historic 144-year factor, made Mahashivratri 2025 an event of unparalleled devotion and enthusiasm.
