Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to eliminating Maoism by March 31, 2026.
He warned that security forces would not spare Maoist rebels even during the monsoon, breaking the pattern of slowed operations in previous years.
Anti-Maoist drive to continue uninterrupted
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) and Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Raipur, Amit Shah said, “Unlike previous years, when anti-Maoist operations slowed down during the rains, we will not allow the rebels to sleep even during monsoon.”
He credited Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy CM Vijay Sharma for intensifying anti-Maoist operations and congratulated them on behalf of the central government.
Rebels urged to surrender and rejoin society
The Home Minister appealed to Maoist rebels to surrender and take advantage of the state’s rehabilitation package.
“I assure all who surrender that both the Centre and State will honour their commitments,” he said.
Amit Shah urged Chhattisgarh’s youth to launch start-ups, assuring support through the ‘Mind-to-Market’ i-Hub centre.
He said the centre would mentor young entrepreneurs and help them become MSME owners.
Praise for leaders and development vision
Acknowledging former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s role in creating Chhattisgarh, Amit Shah praised PM Narendra Modi’s efforts in developing the state.
He declared the day a significant milestone for the criminal justice system as the government launched three major projects.
Forensic Science Institutions Launched
He laid the foundation stone for NFSU and CFSL Raipur and inaugurated the transit campus for 180 students in cyber and forensic sciences.
Amit Shah emphasised that degrees from NFSU would ensure job opportunities, urging students to trust in PM Modi’s vision.
The NFSU will be constructed at a cost of ₹145 crore, while the CFSL project is budgeted at ₹123 crore.
