Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Chhattisgarh on 22 June for a two-day tour aimed at strengthening the Centre’s approach to countering left-wing extremism.
He will chair a high-level meeting with senior security and administrative officials to assess the current status of anti-Maoist operations and refine the strategy to meet the deadline of eliminating Maoist presence by 31 March 2026.
According to officials, the meeting will focus on operational coordination, ground-level intelligence, and recent successes.
As of now, 32 out of 45 members of the Maoist Central Committee have been neutralised in various encounters.
The government is intensifying its manhunt for the remaining senior leaders to dismantle the insurgency’s top leadership entirely.
Laying the foundation for forensic advancement
During the visit, HM Shah will also lay the foundation stone for a new campus of the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) in Naya Raipur.
The Chhattisgarh government has provided 40 acres of land for the campus, and the Centre will fully fund the project, with costs estimated between ₹350 and ₹400 crore.
Additionally, the state has allotted a 6-acre area for establishing a state-run forensic science laboratory.
Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma confirmed that HM Amit Shah will perform the ‘bhoomi-pujan’ for both the NFSU campus and the laboratory during his stay.

These institutions aim to significantly improve the region’s capacity for scientific crime investigation, training, and judicial support.
Home Minister Shah will also visit one of the frontline security camps operating in Maoist-affected areas.
This move boosts the morale of personnel engaged in high-risk counterinsurgency duties and demonstrates the Centre’s strong support for the forces.
By directly interacting with security personnel, HM Shah aims to inspire confidence and acknowledge the sacrifices they make to safeguard national security.
The visit reflects the Centre’s broader commitment to restoring long-term peace and developing robust infrastructure in conflict-affected zones.
