In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Singh expressed his willingness to “work under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership” for the Congress party. This statement, made during Singh’s second term as Prime Minister, has gained attention amid Rahul’s growing influence in the party and the INDIA bloc.

Users on social media have shared strong reactions. One, identifying as AK, criticized Singh, saying, “This is shameful… You deserve more respect.” Others, like Laxmi Narayan, echoed similar sentiments, claiming the remark reflected the “slavery culture” in Congress. Another user, Ramesh Tiwari, mocked Singh’s post, suggesting he might one day praise Raihan Vadra, Rahul’s nephew.
Critics slammed Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party for continuing dynastic politics. They accused the party of putting family above leadership merit. Some questioned Manmohan Singh’s integrity, calling him a “puppet Prime Minister.”
Despite the criticism, Rahul Gandhi has been gaining public support. He has been credited for Congress’ resurgence in recent elections and was recently appointed Leader of Opposition in the 18th Lok Sabha. However, opponents maintain that Congress remains unchanged, with BJP leaders emphasizing that “parivaarvad” (dynastic politics) still dominates.
