Ahead of the upcoming Maha Kumbh 2025, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is introducing mini cruises and speed boats to enhance the bathing experience for devotees at the Sangam.
This marks the first time such water transport services will be available during this major religious event.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, these new offerings aim to facilitate quicker and more enjoyable access to the sacred confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
The services will operate from the Triveni Boat Club, providing a comfortable and efficient means for devotees to reach the Sangam for their holy bath.
Tourism Officer Aparajita Singh highlighted that this initiative will be a first for the Maha Kumbh festival, with the services having commenced in December 2023.
She noted that the water sports facilities introduced by the UP State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) will allow devotees to travel from the Triveni Boat Club to the Sangam in just a few minutes.
The new water transport options are also to cater to special guests and international visitors arriving at the nearby helipad, conveniently located within walking distance of the boat club.
Triveni Boat Club Offers Speed Boats & Mini Cruises At Competitive Rates
Additionally, Deepak Tandon, operator of the Triveni Boat Club, shared that the club currently features six speed boats, each seating six passengers, along with two mini cruises that accommodate thirty-five people and two rescue boats.
The cost for a speed boat ride will be Rs 200 per person or Rs 2,000 per hour, while the mini cruise will charge Rs 150 per person or Rs 5,000 per hour.
Families can reserve both types of boats, and the mini cruise will also provide a changing cabin for women.
In addition to facilitating Sangam bathing, the boat club plans to offer scenic tours of the Yamuna River and visits to the nearby Sujavan Dev temple.
There are also plans to expand the fleet of speed boats in preparation for the Maha Kumbh, further enhancing the experience for all attendees.
Previously available facilities at the Yamuna Boat Club and the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) will now be complemented by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department’s new mini cruises and speed boats, marking a significant improvement in services for devotees at the Maha Kumbh.
