In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will use the grand stage of the Maha Kumbh 2025 to educate devotees about the Right to Information (RTI) and digital tools.
This unique effort aims to empower citizens by raising awareness about their rights and equipping them to combat corruption and injustice.
All Information Commissioners of Uttar Pradesh, including the Chief Information Commissioner, will attend the Maha Kumbh to interact directly with the public.
They will explain the significance of RTI, its application, and its use through platforms like Google, Facebook, X, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Officials will set up a special camp at the Maha Kumbh Mela grounds, where digital experts will assist devotees in understanding and utilizing RTI tools.
The initiative also aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s and CM Yogi Adityanath’s vision of digitizing the Maha Kumbh and promoting accountability and transparency.

Uttar Pradesh State Information Commissioner Virendra Singh Vats emphasized the transformative potential of RTI, stating, “RTI is a powerful tool to create a corruption-free environment. This effort at Maha Kumbh will educate citizens about their rights and ensure they are equipped to access the information they are entitled to.”
Vats added that for the first time on such a large scale, the state government is prioritizing public awareness about RTI at the Maha Kumbh.
“Devotees will not only learn about their rights but also realize that the government stands firmly with them in their fight against injustice,” he asserted.
The campaign will feature interactive discussions where Information Commissioners will engage directly with devotees to address concerns and gather public opinions on improving RTI’s accessibility and effectiveness.
Authorities will distribute books containing detailed information about RTI to help attendees better understand the process.
These materials aim to make the concept of RTI accessible to the common person, ensuring its effective use long after the Maha Kumbh concludes.
The Maha Kumbh 2025 will likely be the largest cultural gathering in the world, showcasing the rich heritage of Uttar Pradesh while promoting initiatives that foster transparency and citizen empowerment.
The inclusion of RTI awareness in the event is another step toward making the state a model of good governance.
This initiative reflects the state’s ongoing anti-corruption drive and reinforces its commitment to protecting citizens’ rights while making governance more transparent and accessible.
