Lok Sabha To Deliberate On Health And Fisheries Grants, New Resolutions And Statements Scheduled

The Lok Sabha is set to address several key issues today, with discussions and voting scheduled on the demand for grants for the Health and Family Welfare Ministry for the fiscal year 2024-25. Additionally, the House will also deliberate on the demand for grants for the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying.

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda will propose a motion for the election of a member to the Governing Council of the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong.

Union Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal is expect to provide an update on government business for the remainder of the Lok Sabha session.

The Lower House will also continue its discussion on a resolution proposed by Congress MP Shafi Paramabil on July 26, which advocates for measures to regulate domestic airfare. Furthermore, Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Barne will introduce a resolution calling for government action to regulate private financial companies, with provisions for penalties in cases of customer harassment.

Lower Tapti Project

BJP MP Smita Uday Wagh will push for immediate government action to approve the Lower Tapti Project under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, requesting timely fund allocation for its construction. Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai will advocate for measures to support the weaver community, aiming to address their hardships through adequate assistance.

In the Rajya Sabha, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present a statutory resolution seeking an amendment to the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act. Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh will update the House on the implementation of recommendations from the 67th Report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Food Processing.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will propose a motion for the election to the Rubber Board, while Union MoS Arjun Ram Meghwal will move a motion for the election to the Joint Committee on Offices of Profit. The Rajya Sabha will also engage in discussions on the performance of the New and Renewable Energy Ministry.
