The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are being conducted in seven phases, with the results set to be declared on June 4. The Election Commission announced the elections on March 16, putting the code of conduct into effect. This spurred all political parties into a vigorous campaign mode. Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a marathon tour of nearly all states across the country even before the election code of conduct was enforced. His campaign, which began in the southernmost part of the country, culminated in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, where he addressed an election rally on Thursday.
PM Modi’s relentless efforts in support of his party were evident throughout the election. While opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, and Arvind Kejriwal were active, PM Modi stood out with his unparalleled energy. He started his campaign in Palnadu, Andhra Pradesh, and concluded it on May 30 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Over 75 days, PM Modi participated in 180 rallies and road shows.
In addition to his public appearances, PM Modi engaged extensively with the media. He participated in 206 rallies, road shows, and other programs, and gave interviews to more than 80 media outlets, including channels, newspapers, YouTubers, and online media platforms.
On average, PM Modi attended more than two rallies and road shows daily. Before the election announcement in March, he had already conducted 15 rallies by mid-February and March.
Uttar Pradesh received the most attention from PM Modi, with 22 public meetings and a total of 31 election programs. He also held 11 rallies each in Karnataka and Telangana, 7 in Tamil Nadu, 5 in Andhra Pradesh, and 3 in Kerala.
In Bihar, PM Modi addressed 20 election programs, and in Maharashtra, he held 19 election events, including 20 rallies in West Bengal. Additionally, he conducted 10 election programs in both Odisha and Madhya Pradesh, and focused on Jharkhand with 7 programs. In comparison, PM Modi held 142 public meetings in the 2019 election.
