The Rouse Avenue Court has issued a notice to ED in response to the bail plea filed by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy scam.
Kejriwal is an alleged accused in the Delhi liquor policy scam case. The court is set to hear both the regular and interim bail pleas on June 1 at 2 pm.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju opposed the bail during the hearing, citing Kejriwal’s campaigning in Punjab. General Raju Said that if medical tests are needed, they can be conducted.
Kejriwal has filed an interim bail plea on health grounds alongside the regular bail plea. The Supreme Court registry rejected his interim bail plea. The apex court stated that since he can seek regular bail from the trial court, his plea is inadmissible for hearing. Kejriwal had sought an extension of interim bail for 7 days on medical grounds. Delhi CM Wished to surrender on June 2. Arvind Kejriwal was granted interim bail on May 10 for campaigning in the Lok Sabha elections in excise policy scam.
In his petition, Kejriwal mentioned significant weight loss and increased ketone levels during his jail term. He expressed the need for medical examinations, including a PET-CT scan, in the petition.
The Supreme Court reserved its decision on a petition challenging the validity of Kejriwal’s arrest by the ED in the PMLA case on May 17.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 after failing to appear for questioning despite nine summons.
