The counting of votes for the assembly elections of Haryana and Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir will commence at 8 am today.
Haryana underwent the assembly election as usual after 5 years, however, this is first assembly election in 10 years following the abrogation of Article 370.
BJP seeks to retain power for the third consecutive term in Haryana while Congress is determined to make comeback after an exile of 10 years.

In Haryana, politics is largely dominated by two major forces, whereas in Kashmir, reports indicate that a united opposition alliance may hold the key to power.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) are also contenders in the Haryana elections. Additionally, numerous independent candidates, largely comprising BJP rebels, have turned the contest into a multi-cornered fight on several seats.
Jammu and Kashmir, degraded from state to union territory is currently ruled by governor as assembly was dissolved right after the abrogation of special status of the state and ruling government were announced illegitimate.
Both Haryana and J&K consist of 90 assembly constituencies. The counting will decide the fate of 415 candidate in Jammu and Kashmir. On the other hand Haryana witnessed the participation of 1031 contenders fighting on 90 constituencies.
