Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for renewed commitment towards water conservation, urging citizens to safeguard every drop through responsible usage. Marking World Water Day, he emphasised the urgency of sustainable water management amid rising global concerns.

He encouraged individuals and communities to adopt conservation practices and acknowledged those actively promoting awareness and sustainability.
PM Modi also released a video message stressing the importance of collective action.
He urged people to take practical steps such as recycling water, practising rainwater harvesting, and strengthening community participation in conservation efforts.
Highlighting the role of younger generations, PM Modi expressed confidence in children’s ability to drive change.
The Prime Minister noted that just as cleanliness became a mass movement, children could emerge as ‘water warriors’ and lead conservation initiatives.
Recognised globally by the United Nations, World Water Day focuses on addressing the global water crisis and advancing Sustainable Development Goal 6, which seeks universal access to water and sanitation.
This year’s theme, ‘Water and Gender: Where water flows, equality grows’, underscores gender equality and the leadership role of women in water management.
It draws attention to the disproportionate burden faced by women and girls, especially in water-scarce regions.
Observed worldwide through campaigns, conferences, and the release of the UN World Water Development Report, the day promotes awareness and action against climate-driven water challenges.
