Top legal experts have responded to the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s allegations against Adani Group, which have sparked political controversy. Mukul Rohatgi, the former Attorney General of India and Senior Counsel representing the Adani Group, emphasized that industrialist Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar Adani are not named in the key bribery or obstruction of justice charges in the indictment filed by US prosecutors in a bribery case. Rohatgi’s statement aims to counter the claims and clear the Adani Group’s name.
Opposition Parties Accused of Political Maneuvering
Rajya Sabha MP and Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani also weighed in, accusing the Congress and other Opposition parties of using the indictment against the Adani Group to divert attention from their electoral defeats. Jethmalani urged these parties to present credible evidence before calling for a parliamentary probe.
Timing of Indictment Questioned by Legal Experts
Jethmalani also raised doubts about the timing of the indictment, describing it as “very sketchy” and “suspicious.” The ongoing debate continues to stir political and legal discussions, with both sides making their cases.
