The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) responded to allegations against Adani Group executives during a press briefing. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the charges involve private individuals and entities.
Jaiswal confirmed that the US did not inform India about the case in advance. He also clarified that India has not received any request for legal assistance or summons from the US regarding the matter.
Adani Group Refutes Allegations
The Adani Group denied accusations of bribery and corruption involving Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani, and Vineet Jain. In its statement, Adani Green Energy Ltd called reports on alleged FCPA violations “incorrect.”
The group announced plans to take legal recourse. It also reaffirmed its commitment to governance, compliance, and transparency.
Case Linked to US Indictment
The allegations stem from a five-count indictment unsealed in a US district court. The charges accuse Adani executives of involvement in bribery and fraud schemes.
Jaiswal emphasized that foreign legal assistance requests undergo a merit-based review. He reiterated that the Indian government is not involved in this matter at present. The Adani Group continues to refute all claims.
