In his initial comments regarding the Pune Porsche accident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated on Tuesday that no one would be spared and that strict actions had been taken.
“The law is equal for all, regardless of whether a person is rich or poor. No one will be spared, and I have ordered strict action,” Shinde asserted.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that he has been in constant contact with the Pune police commissioner since the incident occurred.
“I have been in touch with the Pune police commissioner from the beginning. I have emphasized that there should be no discrimination, regardless of the person’s influence,” he added.
According to a report, the Maharashtra CM personally directed the Pune police commissioner to hold everyone accountable, including doctors or any other involved parties.
“The two individuals who died are also someone’s children. Strict action will be taken against all those guilty in this case, and their backgrounds will be investigated. I have personally instructed the police commissioner to spare no one, whether it is a doctor or anyone else,” he stated.
Shinde’s comments came after Congress’ Maharashtra President Nana Patole demanded the resignation of the chief minister and his deputies, alleging a nexus between the police, politicians, and wealthy individuals in the state.
The Pune crash case, which has caused nationwide outrage, involves a 17-year-old who drove a speeding Porsche, resulting in the deaths of two software engineers on May 19. The case took a new turn with the arrest of two doctors and an employee of Pune-based Sassoon General Hospital for allegedly manipulating the blood sample of the juvenile driver.
Pune Police arrested Dr Ajay Taware, head of the Sassoon Hospital’s Forensic Medicine department, Dr Shrihari Halnor, the chief medical officer, and staff member Atul Ghatkamble, who works under Dr Taware. They have been remanded in police custody until May 30.
