Preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2025 are underway in Prayagraj, with the city gearing up to host one of the largest spiritual gatherings in Sanatan tradition, while the Prayagraj Mela Authority has begun the land allocation process, starting with the revered Akharas, central to the cultural and spiritual fabric of the Kumbh.
The allocation process for the Akharas will take place on 18 and 19 November, following age-old traditions.
The Mela Authority, in collaboration with the All India Akhara Council and representatives of various Akharas, is ensuring a smooth and equitable distribution of land.
The authorities have assured that the Akharas will not receive less land than they were allocated during the previous Kumbh.
First Priority To Akharas
Additional Mela Officer Vivek Chaturvedi emphasized that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed authorities to uphold the sanctity of tradition while ensuring the satisfaction of all Akharas.
Chaturvedi stated, “The process will be completed with the consent of all Akharas, and no Akhara will face a reduction in their allotted land compared to the last Kumbh.”
Officials are holding individual meetings with Akhara representatives to finalize allocations.
The Mela Authority has assured that essential facilities such as water, electricity, sanitation, and cleanliness will be provided to Akhara camps, along with land allocation.
This ensures that the Akharas can participate in the Maha Kumbh without any inconvenience.
Next Step: Allocation To Other Organizations
As per tradition, the authorities will allocate land to the Akharas first, before other organizations and institutions.
After 19 November, the process for land allocation to other entities will commence.
Camps for the Shankaracharyas of the four peethas and Dandi Swamis will also allotted land following established customs.
The Prayagraj Mela Authority is also taking proactive measures to address any specific needs of the saints, monks, and Akharas during the Maha Kumbh.
“We will work to facilitate their adherence to Sanatan cultural traditions,” Chaturvedi added.
City Beautification & Infrastructure Development
In addition to land allocation, the city of Prayagraj is undergoing extensive beautification and infrastructural upgrades to prepare for the massive influx of devotees and visitors.
Work is in progress at the Sangam Nose, Ganga Ghats, pontoon bridges, and construction of checkered plate roads to enhance connectivity and convenience.
With these preparations, Prayagraj is rapidly transforming into a Maha Kumbh city, ready to welcome millions of devotees and celebrate the grandeur of Sanatan culture during Maha Kumbh 2025.
