Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ramji Lal Suman has sparked controversy by calling Maharana Sanga a ‘traitor’ and ‘anti-national during a speech in the Rajya Sabha.
His remarks have triggered strong opposition, particularly from BJP leaders and the Rajput community.
Poet Kumar Vishwas has entered the debate, criticizing the MP’s comments.
Taking to social media platform X, he stated, “Some children of fireflies are questioning the sun,” referring to Maharana Sanga’s historical stature.
He also shared a poem in honor of Maharana Sanga.
Ramji Lal Suman, while speaking in Parliament, mentioned that Babur invaded India at the invitation of Maharana Sanga to defeat Ibrahim Lodhi.
He alleged that Maharana Sanga sought Babur’s help, leading him to label Sanga as a ‘traitor’.
His remarks were met with fierce backlash from BJP leaders, who condemned the statement and called it an insult to India’s history and the Rajput warrior’s legacy.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has defended Ramji Lal Suman, arguing that history is open to interpretation.
He said, “If BJP leaders can interpret history their way, our MP only referred to one page of history. We did not write history from 2,000 years ago.”
The controversy continues to spark debate, with historical narratives and political ideologies clashing over the legacy of Maharana Sanga.
