The Indian Armed Forces executed a high-precision counter-terrorism operation on Wednesday, targeting nine key terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Codenamed Operation Sindoor, the strikes came in the wake of the brutal terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 lives.
The operation was described by officials as ‘focused, carefully calibrated, and non-escalatory’, ensuring that no Pakistani military installations were engaged.
India’s Ministry of Defence stated that it exercised considerable restraint in selecting targets and executing the operation, reinforcing the country’s commitment to strategic discipline while defending national security.
Precision & Coordination
The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force jointly executed the strikes in a coordinated tri-services mission.
They synchronised the multi-domain assault to hit the targets swiftly and effectively.
Sources confirmed that the operation did not result in any loss of Indian aircraft, highlighting its success and precision.
Terror Camps Destroyed
The nine locations hit during the operation are believed to have played direct roles in planning and supporting cross-border terrorism. These include:
- Bahawalpur (Jaish-e-Mohammed stronghold)
- Muridke (Lashkar-e-Taiba headquarters)
- Gulpur
- Bhimber
- Chak Amru
- Bagh
- Kotli
- Sialkot
- Muzaffarabad
Intelligence inputs linked these sites to recent and past terror activities against India, prompting their selection.
Mission Objectives
Operation Sindoor aimed specifically at neutralising top leadership figures of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Both terror outfits have been repeatedly implicated in attacks on Indian soil.
Intelligence agencies had pinpointed key operatives in Bahawalpur and Muridke, prompting targeted strikes on these areas.
Strategic Messaging
The Indian government described the operation as a defensive measure, not a provocation.
It signalled India’s intent to act decisively against terror infrastructure while avoiding a broader military escalation.
Officials reiterated that the international community must take note of Pakistan’s continued harbouring of terror groups.
Operation Sindoor marks one of India’s most significant cross-border counter-terror actions in recent years.
