Omar Abdullah Supports Operation Sindoor; Urges De-escalation
Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah supported India’s Operation Sindoor, emphasising the need to respond to the Pahalgam attack.
He highlighted the impact of terrorism on peace and stability, urging Pakistan to de-escalate tensions.
“At that time, the Central government had said they would respond in their own way. The way India chose to respond was by targeting not just any civilian or military area in Pakistan, but the areas where people had been living for the last 30-35 years, spreading destruction and chaos in Jammu and Kashmir. They became the target,” he said.
CM Abdullah also reassured residents, saying essential supplies were available and there was no need to panic.
The Indian Armed Forces successfully targeted nine terror hideouts in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor.
The Operation: Precision Strikes On Terror Targets
The Indian Army confirmed that ‘Operation Sindoor’ had targeted nine terror camps across Pakistan and PoK, linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The army ensured that no civilian or military infrastructure was harmed, stressing that the operation was carefully planned to avoid escalation.
In its official statement, the army reaffirmed that it focused the operation, measured its actions carefully, and kept it non-escalatory, aiming solely at dismantling terror infrastructure.
The strikes were in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including one Nepali national, thereby responding directly to the deadly assault.
Indian intelligence traced the attack to Pakistan-based terror groups, and the government launched the response to hold the perpetrators accountable and demonstrate India’s resolve in combating cross-border terrorism.
International Reactions & Pakistan’s Response
Pakistan’s military spokesperson acknowledged the strikes, calling them a ‘cowardly attack’ amid rising tensions.
The Pakistani government has denied any involvement in the terror attack, but India remains resolute in its stance, asserting that the operation was a justified and proportionate response.
The international community, including the United States and the United Nations, has expressed concern over the escalating tensions and urged restraint and de-escalation to prevent further conflict between the nuclear-armed neighbours.
‘Operation Sindoor’ has united political leaders across party lines, with leaders lauding the precision and courage of the Indian Army.
The successful operation, however, represents not just a retaliatory strike but also marks a significant step in India’s ongoing fight against terrorism.
It further reinforces the country’s unwavering commitment to national security.
As the nation stands behind its forces, the government remains focused on holding those responsible for the Pahalgam attack accountable.
