As momentum builds among Opposition parties ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday voiced strong confidence in a political shift in the state.
His remarks came after a high-stakes meeting with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav in Delhi, where both parties reportedly discussed seat-sharing and poll strategy.
Bihar Will Vote for Change, Says Kharge
Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Kharge declared, “This time, change is certain in Bihar.”

Kharge accused the BJP and its allies of running an ‘opportunistic alliance’ and said the INDIA bloc would represent the interests of youth, farmers, laborers, women, and backward communities.
“Bihar will be freed from BJP,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi Joins Strategic Discussions
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the meeting, which emphasized a united front under the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) banner.

The discussion centered around strategy, alliance dynamics, and a roadmap for the upcoming elections scheduled for later this year.
Tejashwi Yadav Confirms Follow-Up Meeting
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Tejashwi Yadav echoed Kharge’s optimism.
He said, “Today’s meeting was very positive,” and confirmed that Congress and RJD would hold another round of talks with alliance partners on April 17 in Patna.
“We never reveal our strategy in the media,” Yadav said. “But we remain fully committed to taking Bihar forward.”
He criticized the NDA’s long rule at the Centre and state, arguing that Bihar continues to suffer from poverty, low per capita income, and high migration despite two decades of governance.
When asked about being the chief ministerial face of the alliance, Tejashwi avoided a direct answer.
“Why are you all so worried about it?” he quipped. “That’s our internal matter. Ultimately, the people are the real rulers. The INDIA alliance will form the government.”
Opposition Gears Up For High-Stakes Contest
As Bihar heads into election mode, the Congress-RJD collaboration signals a renewed effort by the INDIA bloc to present a credible alternative to the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes the BJP and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United).
With both parties now entering a phase of intensified coordination and public outreach, the Bihar Assembly elections are shaping up to be a crucial battleground in the national political landscape.
