The release of the second list of candidates by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) sparked turmoil within the party, particularly concerning the nominations for the Rajmahal and Singhbhum seats. Borio MLA Lobin Hembram, already in a rebellious stance, declared his intention to contest the elections independently from Rajmahal. Hembram, adamant on maintaining his JMM membership, asserted his candidacy as a measure to safeguard the party from internal struggles. He made these statements during a press conference held at his residence in Ranchi.
Raising concerns over succession within the Soren family, Hembram launched a scathing attack, questioning the appointment of Kalpana as a successor after the demise of Durga Soren. He argued that Bansat Soren should have rightfully succeeded Hemant Soren, similar to Hemant succeeding Durga. These internal family matters, Hembram emphasized, raise significant questions about the party’s leadership and direction.

Hembram also criticized the party’s handling of key figures like Sita, expressing disappointment over her alleged neglect despite her contributions. He questioned the absence of consequences for individuals like Abhishek Prasad Pintu and Pankaj Mishra, whom he held responsible for Hemant Soren’s legal troubles. Hembram highlighted unfulfilled promises from the party’s 2019 manifesto and criticized the lack of implementation of various policies and acts.
Regarding Vijay Hansda’s candidacy, Hembram echoed public dissatisfaction, claiming that Hansda’s focus had shifted more towards business than serving constituents. He pledged to enter the electoral fray not as an independent candidate but as a representative striving for justice for both the party and the people.
Simultaneously, discontent arose in Kolhan following the nomination of Joba Manjhi for the Singhbhum seat. Party leaders Damodar Sinku and Sandhya Singh Khutian met Chief Minister Champai Soren to voice objections, demanding Manjhi’s replacement with a candidate from the Ho community to ensure electoral success. They warned of potential repercussions if their demands were not met, emphasizing the importance of community representation for alliance victory. Plans were also made to protest against Manjhi’s candidacy, with intentions to meet Kalpana Soren for further action.
