Army vehicle fell into a ditch in Kupwara
Jammu And Kashmir: On Wednesday, three soldiers, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), fell into a deep gorge near the Line of Control (LOC) in Machil sector of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. A JCO and a team of 2 ORs slipped into a deep gorge during a routine operational task. This track was covered with snow. According to the statement issued by the army, the bodies of the three martyred soldiers have been taken out of the ditch.
According to the information, the bodies of Naib Subedar Parshottam Kumar, Havaldar Amrik Singh and constable Amit Sharma have been taken out.

Earlier, on December 23 last year, 16 army personnel were killed when a vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in North Sikkim near the India-China border. Four soldiers were also injured in this accident. The accident took place around 8 am in Gema 3, about 15 km from Lachen, located about 130 km from Gangtok.
At the same time, in the month of November, there was an accident in Machil sector as well. Here three soldiers were martyred due to avalanche. Apart from this, many soldiers were injured. The Kupwara police had told about this accident that 3 jawans of 56 RR were martyred while on duty after being hit by an avalanche near Almora outpost. Sauvik Hazra, Mukesh Kumar and Manoj Laxman Rao were among the three martyred soldiers. These days it is snowing in Machil area and the whole area is covered with snow. Snow has accumulated up to one foot in some areas. In such a situation, there is a danger of vehicles slipping on the ice.
