Jamiat Ulama Distributes Relief To Wayanad Flood Victims With No Religious Discrimination

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, under the guidance of President Maulana Arshad Madani, has provided crucial aid to 51 flood-affected families in Wayanad, Kerala, including 11 non-Muslim families.

The distribution, which took place in the villages of Mandakatti and Chormalai, included essential items such as furniture, kitchen appliances, and other household necessities. Each family received goods worth ₹30,000. Additionally, Jamaat provided specific assistance to individuals with affected livelihoods by flood, including ₹45,000 for a barber and ₹15,000 each for three carpenters.

The Jamiat delegation, led by Maulana Abdul Rahim, President of Jamiat Ulama Karnataka, has visited Wayanad multiple times since the devastating floods of July 26, which claimed over 600 lives and displaced thousands. The organization has been actively involved in providing continuous support, from food supplies to essential items, to those still living in camps or temporary accommodations.

Flood victims expressed deep gratitude, with one non-Muslim woman saying, “May the Almighty keep Maulana Madani safe; he felt our pain.” Jamiat Ulama has also requested the local authorities to allow them to take responsibility for the education and upbringing of children orphaned by the disaster.

Maulana Madani emphasized that Jamiat’s mission is to serve humanity, regardless of religion, contrasting it with the divisive efforts of sectarian forces. He also highlighted the organization’s ongoing efforts to provide new homes for displaced families, despite the challenges of relocating them from the unsafe, debris-filled areas.

The initiative reflects Jamiat Ulama’s commitment to unity and service, transcending religious and cultural boundaries.
