Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised India’s 7.8 per cent real GDP growth recorded during the April-June quarter of FY27. He said the latest economic performance demonstrated the country’s resilience and reflected the efforts and determination of its people.

PM Modi pointed to continuing instability across the global economy, citing armed conflicts, geopolitical tensions and interruptions to supply chains.

Despite these international challenges, the Prime Minister said India had continued to maintain a strong growth trajectory.

The Prime Minister urged citizens to maintain confidence in the country’s economic progress and sustain the momentum achieved in recent years.

PM Modi called for a renewed focus on the principles of ‘Swadeshi’, ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Vocal for Local’. He asked citizens to give preference to Indian-made goods and support domestic producers wherever possible.

The Prime Minister appealed to people to avoid unnecessary purchases of gold and limit overseas spending, including expenditure on weddings held abroad.

PM Modi linked the promotion of domestic products to India’s long-term ambition to become a developed nation. He said the country aims to achieve this goal by the time it marks 100 years of Independence.

Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that sustained economic growth and stronger domestic participation could help achieve this vision. He said this could deliver a prosperous Viksit Bharat to future generations.

India’s 7.8 per cent quarterly expansion placed it ahead of other major economies during the April-June period.

Malaysia recorded a growth rate of 6 per cent. Singapore registered 5.9 per cent. Indonesia recorded 5.29 per cent. China posted 4.3 per cent.

The US economy expanded by 2.1 per cent, while most major European economies recorded growth of around 1 per cent or below.

Domestic passenger-vehicle sales climbed to 4.58 lakh units in July, marking a 34.3 per cent year-on-year increase and the highest July figure on record, according to official data.

The latest figures indicate continued strength in domestic demand as India advances its broader economic development agenda.
