Indian Railways Working On War Footing To Make Transportation Smooth In Maha Kumbh

Amid the ongoing heavy rush during the Maha Kumbh, Indian Railways continues to operate at full capacity to ensure that devotees can travel to and from the sacred event without delay. In response to a misleading media report, Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw clarified that over 330 trains have been running from eight stations in the Prayagraj area, successfully transporting more than 12.5 lakh passengers to their homes.

Despite the persistent rush, Railways is maintaining an efficient schedule, with trains departing approximately every four minutes from these stations. Ahead of the next major Amrit Snan on Maghi Poornima, one train accommodates an average of 3,780 passengers per trip, highlighting the continued high demand for rail services.

Shri Satish Kumar, chairman of the Railway Board and CEO, met with zonal and divisional railway officials to review the situation. He emphasized that Prayagraj Junction and seven other stations—Prayagraj Chheoki, Naini, Subedarganj, Prayag, Phaphamau, Prayagraj Rambagh, and Jhusi—are fully operational, and special and regular trains are running at full capacity.

Shri Satish Kumar also addressed the temporary closure of Prayagraj Sangam station during the Amrit Snan, stating that this is a routine measure taken on the recommendation of the Prayagraj district administration. He assured that this practice had been followed for all previous holy baths.

The Railway Board Chairman urged the media and the public to verify the facts and not be swayed by isolated reports of disruptions at Prayagraj Junction. As of 3 PM, more than 201 special and regular trains had already departed from the eight stations, carrying over 9 lakh pilgrims. The total number of trains running on a normal day has been comparable to the peak rush during Mauni Amavasya last month.

Shri Satish Kumar and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw closely monitored the situation, reviewing CCTV footage from various railway stations in real-time at the Rail Bhawan war room. The officials discussed preparations for the upcoming Amrit Snan and confirmed that the railway services are functioning smoothly, contrary to reports suggesting otherwise.

Indian Railways continues to operate at full capacity, with 330 trains running daily—underscoring its unwavering commitment to serving the people during this massive religious event. Passengers are encouraged to check official sources for the latest updates and avoid being misled by inaccurate reports.
