Shiv Sena’s Deputy Leader Sanjay Nirupam reposted the viral video and expressed strong condemnation.
“This is the real face of those who claim to protect Marathi culture,” he wrote on X.
He criticised Rahil Sheikh’s behaviour and questioned the moral authority of the MNS to speak about Marathi pride while their own leaders’ children disrespect Marathi women.
Nirupam further alleged that Rahil vandalised More’s vehicle, rammed into it, and continuously misbehaved with her while under the influence of alcohol.
He also questioned whether MNS was attacking Hindus under pressure from other communities, hinting at deeper communal undercurrents in the party’s functioning.
Highlighting that such incidents go against the values of cultural preservation, Nirupam accused MNS of indulging in ‘gundagardi’ (hooliganism) under the guise of language pride.
“Our government supports Marathi. But what MNS is doing is shameful and dangerous,” he said.
The timing of the video’s release is politically significant, coming just three days after a joint rally where MNS chief Raj Thackeray and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray pledged to remain united in future political battles.
This incident is likely to stir political tension as both parties jostle to portray themselves as the true guardians of Marathi identity.
While MNS faces questions over its credibility, Shiv Sena is attempting to frame the incident as a betrayal of the very culture MNS claims to protect.
The state government is now under pressure to take strict action against political leaders who misuse their influence and tarnish public trust.
