The Indian Railways is striving to offer a comfortable and affordable travel experience to the general passengers by introducing non-AC Vande Sadharan trains equipped with Sleeper and General facilities. As per the latest updates, these trains will be manufactured at ICF Chennai at an estimated cost of Rs 65 crore, and the first set of coaches is expected to be operational by the end of this year.
The launch date for the Vande Sadharan trains is planned for this year. In contrast, the fully air-conditioned Vande Bharat trains, featuring seating arrangements, are being produced at ICF with an approximate cost of Rs 100 crore.
In order to ensure effective acceleration, the Vande Sadharan train will have two locomotives at both the front and rear ends and 24 LHB coaches. The push-pull method with two locomotives will enhance the train’s acceleration rate.
Passengers can look forward to modern amenities on the Vande Sadharan train, including bio-vacuum toilets, a passenger information system, and charging points at every seat. To enhance passenger security, CCTV cameras will be installed in each coach. Additionally, the train will feature an automatic door system, similar to the Vande Bharat Express. Notably, this will be the first time non-AC trains will be equipped with features such as CCTV cameras, bio-vacuum toilets, and automatic doors.
In contrast to the Vande Bharat trains, which received criticism for their higher fares, the Vande Sadharan service is anticipated to have standard fare levels, making it more accessible to a wider range of passengers.
