Indian Air Force To Organize Multilateral Air Exercise ‘Tarang Shakti’ In Jodhpur

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will host a multilateral air exercise, ‘Tarang Shakti’, in Jodhpur during the first week of August for the first time.

This significant event will see the participation of fighter bombers and strategic lift aircraft from 12 different air forces around the world.

According to sources within the Air Service, ‘Tarang Shakti’ will organize in two phases.

The initial phase will commence from an airbase in South India, starting in early August.

Following this, the exercise will move to Jodhpur and continue from mid-August to mid-September.

The exercise will feature air forces from 12 countries, including Spain and the UAE.

Notably, it will include the Quad countries the United States, Japan, and Australia along with the three largest air forces in Europe: Britain, France, and Germany.

These nations will deploy various fighter jets, showcasing their capabilities in a collaborative training environment.

Designed to match the level of the United States’ renowned ‘Red Flag War Game’, in which NATO countries participate, ‘Tarang Shakti’ aims to enhance interoperability and cooperation among the participating nations.

The Red Flag War Game was last held in June 2023, with India taking part and fielding its Rafale fighter aircraft.

Russia, however, will not be participating in this exercise.

The two-phase schedule will see some countries participating in both phases, while others will join for one phase only.

This arrangement ensures a comprehensive and diverse engagement across the different stages of the exercise.

Countries like Germany will deploy fighter jets and an A-400M transport aircraft.

The IAF will showcase the A-400M, considering it as a contender in the open tender for medium transport aircraft.
