India Steps Up Afghanistan Aid With Medicines, Medical Consumables For Kabul Hospital

India has stepped up its humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan by supplying medicines and medical consumables to a government hospital in Kabul.

The latest consignment reflects New Delhi’s continued efforts to support the Afghan population and strengthen healthcare services in the country.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the delivery as part of India’s enduring health partnership with the Afghan people.

The latest assistance forms part of India’s wider humanitarian engagement with Afghanistan, which has included essential medicines, relief supplies and other forms of assistance.

Addressing a media briefing in New Delhi earlier this week, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India’s engagement with Afghanistan had expanded over the past year. He further noted that this engagement has involved diplomatic exchanges, humanitarian assistance and development cooperation.

Jaiswal emphasised that India shares a longstanding relationship with the Afghan people and would continue shaping its engagement around these priorities.

India recently provided emergency relief to communities affected by severe floods in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province.

The assistance, delivered to the country’s National Disaster Management Authority, included food supplies and family tents.

The MEA said the support was intended to assist affected families during a difficult period and reaffirmed India’s solidarity with the Afghan population.

India has maintained a consistent focus on Afghanistan’s healthcare requirements through a series of recent medical consignments.

In June, New Delhi supplied another five tonnes of essential medicines to Kabul as part of its humanitarian support.

The latest shipment follows an earlier delivery of 20 tonnes of critical dry materials required for BCG and Tetanus & Diphtheria vaccines.

India delivered the consignment on May 22 to strengthen Afghanistan’s child immunisation programme and expand vaccination efforts among Afghan children.

India’s latest medical assistance demonstrates its continued focus on humanitarian cooperation with Afghanistan.
