Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin have directed their governments to expand bilateral cooperation, with both countries targeting $100 billion in trade by 2030, Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar said.
In an interview with Russian news agency TASS, published on Saturday, Kumar said the two leaders discussed the full range of bilateral relations on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in New Delhi on September 12-13.
“One of the concrete results of the cooperation was the joint participation of the leaders of our countries in the BRICS business summit, as well as a visit to the Innoprom-India exhibition; the first Russian industrial exhibition held in New Delhi,” Kumar told TASS.
The ambassador said PM Modi and Putin had instructed relevant ministries and agencies to strengthen cooperation, particularly in trade and commerce.
Kumar said India and Russia continued to work towards their bilateral trade target of $100 billion by 2030.
The two countries are also aiming to increase two-way investment to $50 billion over the same period.
The targets reflect efforts by New Delhi and Moscow to deepen economic engagement and expand commercial ties across sectors.
Their focus on trade and investment forms part of broader cooperation between the two countries.
