Speaking from the Red Fort during the 77th Independence Day celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized corruption, nepotism, and appeasement as the three detrimental factors that have significantly harmed the nation. He emphasized that it’s a collective responsibility to promote values of “suchita” (integrity), “pardarshita” (transparency), and “nishpakshta” (impartiality) to foster India’s development.
Modi stressed that corruption has severely impacted the country’s capabilities, and he urged the nation to stand against it in all forms. He highlighted his life-long commitment to combating corruption, mentioning the removal of 10 crore fake beneficiaries from welfare schemes and a 20-fold increase in the seizure of ill-gotten assets during his government’s tenure.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that the politics of appeasement has inflicted significant damage on social justice. In his tenth Independence Day speech, Modi lamented the influence of nepotism on democracy, accusing dynastic parties of operating under the mantra of “party of the family, by the family, and for the family.”
