‘If We Get These Three Temples…We Will Forget About All Other Things,’ Ram Temple Treasurer On Gyanvapi Mosque Row

The treasurer of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, Govind Dev Giri Maharaj urged the Muslim side to give up the Gyanvapi and Mathura mosques to peacefully resolve the ongoing dispute.

He gave the assurance that Hindus would not look at other temples if the Muslim side agreed to amicably resolve the issues surrounding Gyanvapi and Krishna Janambhoomi.

Demand for peace

Addressing an event in Pune Giri Maharaj said, “We do not even desire to look at the other temples if three temples are freed because we have to live in the future and not in the past. The country’s future should be good and if we get these three temples (Ayodhya, Gyanvapi, and Krishna Janmabhoomi) peacefully, we will forget about all other things.”

He stated that the destruction of temples in Ayodhya, Gyanvapi, and Mathura are the most visible remnants of the invasions, and the Muslim community needs to be aware of this suffering.

“I appeal with folded hands about all these 3 temples (Ayodhya, Gyanvapi, and Krishna Janmabhoomi)… because these are the biggest scars of the attacks done by invaders. People are in pain, if they (the Muslim side) can heal this pain peacefully then it will help in increasing brotherhood,” he added.

Mughals invaded the land, and Gyanvapi and Mathura Mosques were built after demolishing grand Hindu temples, the Hindu side claimed.

ASI survey revealed that the Gyanvapi mosque was built on the remains of a great Hindu Temple, claimed by the Hindu litigants last month.

Varanasi court’s order

A Varanasi court last week approved puja in one of the Gyanvapi mosque’s cellars.
In Varanasi, the Gyanvapi mosque is located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. Adjacent to the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple is the Mathur mosque.

Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, responded to the Varanasi district court’s ruling last week.

“An order has been given that prayers were performed there and that should continue. It is good that the right to perform the ‘Puja’ has been given. The truth has come out. Those who stopped the Puja and how it was stopped, were wrong… I thank the court for giving me the right to perform Puja. It is a matter of joy… Halting the Puja was wrong, but now the wrong has been rectified,” he added.
