Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the past month as a ‘super hit’ period for Indian sports during the 128th episode of his radio address Mann Ki Baat.
He began by congratulating the Indian women’s cricket team for lifting the ICC Women’s World Cup, a victory that set the tone for a series of remarkable achievements across disciplines.
PM Modi also spotlighted India’s record-breaking performance at the Deaflympics held in Tokyo, where the contingent secured 20 medals—its best-ever tally at the event.
He commended the athletes for their dedication and resilience, noting that their success had brought immense pride to the nation.
The Prime Minister went on to praise the Indian women’s kabaddi team, who dominated the Kabaddi World Cup.
The team remained unbeaten in the group stages, defeated Iran 33–21 in the semi-final, and secured a 35–28 victory over Chinese Taipei in the final.
PM Modi emphasised that their performance showcased the growing strength and confidence of women athletes in India.
India also excelled at the World Boxing Cup Finals held in Greater Noida, where the national contingent won an impressive 20 medals—nine gold, six silver, and five bronze.
PM Modi highlighted this success as yet another testament to India’s rapidly rising stature in international sport.
Among all the achievements, the Prime Minister gave special attention to the Indian women’s blind cricket team, who won the Blind Cricket World Cup without losing a single match.
He described their campaign as extraordinary and said their victory would remain one of the ‘greatest triumphs in India’s sporting history’.
PM Modi also shared that he had met the team at his residence just two days earlier and was deeply moved by their determination and spirit.
He said their courage serves as an inspiration to every Indian, particularly the youth.
The Prime Minister concluded by expressing confidence that India’s athletes would continue to shine across global platforms.
He added that the recent victories reflect the country’s rising potential in sports and the growing opportunities available to young sportspersons.
India’s sporting achievements, he said, symbolise the nation’s energy, resilience, and collective ambition—a sentiment that will continue to inspire generations to come.
