Chhattisgarh Government Reshuffles Police Department, Transfers 45 IPS Officers, Including 25 District SPs

The newly-elected BJP government in Chhattisgarh made significant changes in the police department, transferring 45 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and one state police service officer on Monday. The reshuffle included the transfer of superintendents of police (SPs) in 25 districts, with some officers previously associated with the Congress government led by Bhupesh Baghel also being relocated. The state home department issued the order in the early hours of Monday.

Among the notable changes, 2005-batch IPS officer Amresh Mishra, returning from central deputation, has been appointed as the inspector general of police (IGP) for Raipur Range. Ratanlal Dangi, who served as the director of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose State Police Academy, has been relieved of the additional charge of IGP Raipur range. Sheikh Arif Hussain, the former IGP Raipur range for districts other than Raipur, is now the IGP (North Region) of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) in Surguja.

IGPs (Intelligence) Anand Chhabra, Bilaspur Range Ajay Kumar Yadav, and Durg Range BN Meena have been reassigned as IGPs at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Nava Raipur. Dipanshu Kabra, the 1997-batch IPS officer who previously served as transport commissioner, is now the additional director general of police at PHQ, Nava Raipur.

Santosh Singh, a 2011-batch IPS officer and former Bilaspur district superintendent of police, has been appointed as the SP of Raipur. The outgoing Raipur SP, Prashant Agrawal, is transferred to the deputy inspector general of police (CAF) in the Bastar region.

Ajatshatru Bahadur Singh, the former commandant of the 9th battalion of CAF in Dantewada, is now the SP of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in Raipur.

The reshuffle extends beyond Raipur, impacting SPs in districts such as Bilaspur, Raigarh, Durg, Sakti, Baloda Bazar, Jashpur, Surajpur, Dhamtari, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Bastar, Janjgir-Champa, Korba, Kanker, Mungeli, Bemetara, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, Korea, Surguja, Balod, Bijapur, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Narayanpur, Mahasamund, and Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, according to the order.
