Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke at a BJP rally in Chenani, Udhampur district, on Thursday. He warned that electing National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates would signal Pakistan’s success in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). Shah stated, “If NC and PDP get elected, Pakistan will celebrate. If our candidate Balwant Singh Mankotia wins, India will celebrate with firecrackers.”

Criticism of Opposition Leaders

Shah cited NC and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about restoring Article 370. He asserted, “Even if his three generations fight for it, Article 370 will not come back.” He claimed Congress, NC, and PDP drove J&K into terrorism, resulting in 40,000 deaths and 3,000 days of curfew. He told Parliament, “After the elections, we will restore Jammu and Kashmir statehood.”

Shah accused NC and Congress of wanting to bring back terrorism. He told Omar Abdullah, “We will bury terrorism deep down under the earth.” He criticized the previous governments for their rule, stating, “For 70 to 75 years, three families ruled. Did you get Rs 5 lakh free healthcare, which you are getting now?”

Promises for Development

Shah promised Rs 10 lakh free healthcare and increased financial aid for farmers if the BJP wins. He highlighted progress under the Modi government, noting improved roads. He slammed NC for its response to terrorism, saying, “They kept terrorism alive; cinemas were closed, and Farooq was CM when terrorism flourished.”

He assured voters that under BJP, Jammu will have an international airport, a riverfront, and an IT hub. Shah listed various development projects, including the Patnitop Gandola project and free ration distribution. He concluded, “Jammu will be free of terrorism,” adding that students would receive travel allowances, laptops, and tablets for education.

Voting in Jammu, Kathua, Samba, and Udhampur districts, as well as Baramulla and Kupwara, will occur on October 1. Counting is set for October 8.
