A social media user named Akash Vatsa claimed that he had travelled on the same AI-171 aircraft just hours before its tragic crash near Ahmedabad. The flight, which later crashed en route to London Gatwick, had earlier operated the Delhi-Ahmedabad leg.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Vatsa wrote:
I was in the same damn flight 2 hours before it took off from AMD. I came in this from DEL-AMD. Noticed unusual things in the place.Made a video to tweet to @airindia i would want to give more details. He also shared a photo of his boarding pass as proof and urged sceptics not to question his intentions.
Akash Vatsa’s claim has added a new dimension to the ongoing investigation into the AI-171 aircraft disaster. If confirmed, his observations could provide critical insight into the condition of the aircraft before its ill-fated flight.
Vatsa defended his actions online, saying:
“Why would I firstly record video of the same plane and then post it? There are negative people around.”
His video and comments have gone viral, with several users tagging Air India and aviation authorities, urging them to reach out and investigate his claims.
Authorities Yet to Respond Publicly
As of now, there has been no official statement from Air India or the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on the passenger’s post. However, with a full probe underway, eyewitness accounts like Vatsa’s could become vital in determining the exact cause of the crash.
