Union Home Minister Amit Shah is preparing to begin an extensive political tour across four crucial poll-bound states from 28 December, as the BJP seeks to build momentum after its recent victory in Bihar.
According to party leaders, his fortnight-long itinerary reflects a broader strategy to strengthen the BJP’s organisational presence in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala ahead of next year’s Assembly elections.
Following the NDA’s strong performance in Bihar, Shah has outlined a detailed roadmap to replicate similar successes in the upcoming state elections.
The Home Minister will visit Assam on 28–29 December, West Bengal on 30–31 December, Tamil Nadu in the first week of January, and Kerala in the second week of January.
Party officials confirmed that Shah will continue spending at least two days every month in these states until the elections, aiming to fine-tune strategy in regions currently governed by non-NDA parties.
Strengthening Booth-Level Machinery
During his visits, Shah will hold organisational meetings, interact with party workers and oversee preparations at the grassroots level.
The focus will be on strengthening booth committees, energising Panna Pramukhs and accelerating the ‘Mera Booth Sabse Majboot’ plan—considered central to the BJP’s successful election machinery.
Party functionaries stressed that Shah’s engagement is aimed at ensuring that cadres remain motivated and well-prepared for the electoral challenge ahead.
Party sources say that Shah intends to replicate the model that shaped the NDA’s victory in Bihar, despite what they describe as attempts by rival alliances to spread misinformation over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Shah, long regarded as the BJP’s chief strategist, has built his reputation on state-specific campaigns aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national vision.
His approach often includes careful coordination with NDA allies and early interventions to pacify potential rebels who may otherwise erode vote shares.
In the Bihar elections alone, he personally met nearly 100 disgruntled leaders to prevent fragmentation within the alliance.
Preparing to Counter Opposition Narratives
According to senior party leaders, Shah’s tour will also focus on understanding ground realities, identifying region-specific issues and preparing counters to opposition narratives.
People expect him to address matters such as employment, the SIR, and socio-economic concerns that rival parties may use as campaign planks.
The BJP leadership believes that proactive engagement will be essential to neutralise what they describe as ‘politics of falsehood’.
Amit Shah’s multi-state visit marks the beginning of an intensive election campaign, signalling the BJP’s commitment to securing strong performances across all four states.
This tour is expected to shape the party’s narrative and organisational strength as the elections approach.
