Marking the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Friday paid tributes to India’s martyrs and freedom fighters. The day was observed to honour extraordinary acts of bravery and sacrifice that continue to shape the nation’s moral and historical legacy.
Recalling the life of Shaheed Udham Singh, HM Amit Shah paid homage to the revolutionary on his birth anniversary.
Through a post on X, he described Udham Singh as an immortal martyr. He further said his unmatched courage symbolised India’s resistance to colonial injustice.
Highlighting his historic act, HM Shah stated that Udham Singh avenged the massacre of innocent Indians at Jallianwala Bagh. He said this act transformed grief into a powerful message of defiance.
The Minister observed that this act resonated far beyond the moment, symbolising resistance against colonial injustice. He further noted that Udham Singh’s sacrifice stands as one of the most defining moments of the freedom struggle.
Noting his international role, HM Amit Shah said Udham Singh also contributed significantly to spreading the spirit of India’s freedom movement abroad through the Ghadar movement. His efforts, he added, helped carry the message of resistance to foreign lands and mobilised Indians beyond the country’s borders.
Describing his legacy, the Union Minister said Udham Singh’s life remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the youth. HM Shah remarked on his courage and devotion to the nation. He said these qualities continue to instil patriotism and a sense of duty among younger generations.

… pic.twitter.com/yLqQmg4mNA
