HIGH COURT: If action is not taken against the rape of innocent people, faith in justice will be lost

High Court held that the heinous crime of raping a six year old girl, the meaning of which she does not know, is a crime against the basic rights of life not only of the victim but also of the society. If action is not taken against such criminals, people will lose faith in the justice system.

Allahabad High Court has said that small girls are worshiped in the country, but incidents of rape of innocent girls are increasing day by day.

The heinous crime of raping a six year old girl, the meaning of which she does not know, is a crime against the basic rights of life not only of the victim but also of the society. If action is not taken against such criminals, people will lose faith in the justice system. With this comment, Mr  Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav has rejected the bail application of Chhotu alias Zulfikar.

The court said, ‘Often the victim does not report the rape crime. The family also remains silent to save honour.’The punishment for raping girls below 12 years of age has been increased from 20 years’ imprisonment to life imprisonment. The victim, a six-year-old girl, has stated that she was beaten, caught, taken to the fields and raped.

When the women raised an alarm, they saved her and the accused ran away. The father lodged an FIR on the advice of the victim. The court termed the crime of raping a six-year-old girl as heinous and refused to release the accused on bail.

This incident took place on May 7, 2023 at 6:30 pm. The accused (petitioner) caught hold of the playing girl, took her to the field and raped her. The father lodged an FIR in Baghpat police station. The petitioner said that he has been falsely implicated due to the party ban. He is in jail since May 8, 2023. He has no criminal history
