The Allahabad High Court has granted one month’s additional time to frame rules for Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS), and directed the petition to be listed for hearing on January 5.The petition filed by a female constable of Uttar Pradesh police department Neha Singh.
The above said order was passed by Mr.Justice Ajit Kumar. It was directed the State Government to frame rules with respect to Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS) in the light of the Supreme Court’s judgment in the case of National Legal Services Authority vs. Union of India and Others.
On this, the court had directed the competent authority to take appropriate decision on the pending application of the petitioner by the next date. Which has been rejected.
The state government filed a compliance affidavit. In which it was told that the petitioner’s sex change application has been rejected. On this, the court has given permission to the petitioner advocate to challenge the order of DGP Lucknow by filing an amendment application in the same petition.
