(PRAYAGRAJ) The Allahabad High Court imposes ban on putting up of posters, banners and all sorts of publicity material by the candidates and their supporters in the premises or outside during the elections. This applies to polls belonging to the Advocates & Bar Associations of all the district courts of the entire state including the High Court.
The prohibition is also on all kind of election feast or mass gathering. Use of loudspeakers or raising slogans and noise in gatherings and election campaigning has also been banned.
Passing the above said the division bench comprising Mr Justice MC Tripathi and Mr Justice Prashant Kumar while hearing the petition filed by Amit Kumar Nigam and others regarding the elections of District Bar Association Prayagraj.
The court has also issued instructions to remove within a week the posters, banners, pasted pamphlets, handbills and wall writing etc. put up by the candidates or supporters regarding the Bar Association elections in the city inside or outside the court premises.
The court has also made it clear that if the candidates or supporters do not follow these, then the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh will take disciplinary action and it will also be considered as contempt of court.
Only those advocates who have COP card/Bar Association membership card/Bar Council identity card will be allowed to go to the polling place in the elections.It was also directed that if the candidates or supporters do not follow these, then the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh will take disciplinary action and it will also be considered as contempt of court.
