On Monday evening, unidentified individuals fatally shot a man in Kunda Top, Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir.
Mohammad Razaq, aged 40, fell victim to a targeted attack shortly after departing from a mosque.
Razaq was swiftly taken to a hospital, but tragically, he could not survive his injuries and passed away.
The deceased was the brother of an Indian Army soldier.
Following the incident, search operation is ongoing in Kunda village, in the Shahdara Sharief area of Rajouri’s Thanna Mandi Tehsil.
Security forces have been put on high alert in Rajouri.
Security forces were observed conducting random checks of vehicles as part of the heightened security measures.

The incident however highlights ongoing security challenges in the region, prompting an active investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
Ahead of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, this attack marks the third incident in the span of just two weeks.
In a collaborative effort between the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Special Operations Group (SOG), a registered overground worker (OGW), who also serves as a school headmaster, was apprehended on Sunday.
The arrest took place in the Hari Budha area of Poonch district, where a foreign-made pistol and Chinese grenades were seized.
Earlier on 17 April, terrorists shot and killed a civilian from Bihar in the Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The victim was identified as Raja Shah.
Following the incident, Raja Shah was immediately taken to the hospital for further treatment but, succumbed to his injuries.
