ASI Survey Of Wazukhana

The Allahabad High Court has postponed the hearing on the Archaeological Survey of India, ASI survey of the Wazukhana in Gyanvapi, Varanasi. The new date for the hearing is scheduled for August 22nd, with proceedings to starting at 2 p.m.

The delay occurred because the advocate representing the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee fell ill. Consequently, the committee could not file its reply as planned. The Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee’s response was crucial to the proceedings.

The civil revision petition, filed by Rakhi Singh, the primary petitioner in the Shringar Gauri case, is at the center of this dispute. Singh is challenging a decision made by the District Judge of Varanasi. The petition demands that the ASI conduct a survey of the sealed Wazukhana, similar to the survey conducted for the entire Gyanvapi premises.

Authorities sealed Wazukhana two years ago following the discovery of an object claimed to be a Shivling. The Hindu side insists that the object is indeed a Shivling, while the Muslim side contends it is merely a fountain.

Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal is currently presiding over this case. The outcome of the hearing could have significant implications for both religious communities involved.
