Shardiya Navratri is a nine-day Hindu festival that honours the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga. Each day, devotees perform rituals and offer prayers to celebrate the divine feminine power.
According to Hindu tradition, Maa Kushmanda created the universe with her divine smile, bringing light and energy to the cosmos. She is worshipped as a source of creative energy, warmth and vitality.
On the fourth day of Navratri, devotees visit temples, perform special pujas, chant devotional mantras and offer prayers to the Goddess. Many observe fasts and perform rituals to seek her blessings for their families.
People across the country celebrate the festival with prayers, devotional music and traditional festivities.
Shardiya Navratri concludes with Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, which symbolises the victory of good over evil and the triumph of righteousness.
